Brianna Rose Brooks is a young American artist who stands out for their anecdotal, imaginary and colorful work inspired by the intimate and contemplative stories of black teenagers.

The emotional reality in their compositions establishes a meeting point between the enjoyment of contemplation and circumstantial questioning.

This time the story takes place at night while two young people are in the forest. One of the figures is lying on a flower blanket, smoking a cigarette and looking at the cell phone; while the other is leaning against a tree watching a firefly approach and touches the arm of her companion.

The night scene escapes a more intimate reading that reveals the romance between two people. Although the representation is in a natural environment, the landscape responds to an urban environment, Rose shows us city details such as an image on paper pasted on a tree or a rubbish bin, like the common baskets found in natural parks. Color becomes symbolic in red trees whose bark fades into texture.

The work is set in a moment of leisure and entertainment and the title connects with the humor and naivety typical of adolescence.

The lighting comes from the firefly, the moon, and the cell phone. The stars, black in color, are dark but have their own light and subtly stand out from the background. I bet this firefly is a fucking cop is a color silkscreen, edition of 50, printed on Canson 100% cotton 300 g paper, which guarantees extraordinary color and excellent preservation.
